Forks Over Knives

I’ve always said I’m the one of the luckiest people on the planet; I get confirmation of this fact almost every week.  Not only was I lucky enough to be invited to work on and be in the soon-to-be-released documentary Forks Over Knives, I was one of the first people (outside of the producer and production team) to see the film in its entirety.   The film exceeded my already high expectations; it is an amazing piece.


The premise of the film is a story that the public must know; that the cause of most degenerative conditions afflicting tens of millions of people in the U.S. (and hundreds of millions worldwide) is not some mysterious factor we have not yet identified; it is diet.  The medications and procedures commonly used are often ineffective and dangerous, but the right diet can stop the progression of and even reverse diseases like coronary artery disease and diabetes.


The film relates the professional and personal stories of two men who had the courage to step outside of their traditional scientific backgrounds, Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn.  Dr. Campbell’s research, both at Cornell and in the internationally acclaimed China Study, confirmed that diet had a profound effect on human health.  Dr. Esselstyn proved that a low-fat vegan diet could effectively treat advanced coronary artery disease better than drugs and surgery.  It is not surprising that these two extraordinary people became friends and colleagues.  What is hard to believe is that every American does not know their names.


Thanks to Executive Producer Brian Wendel, his team, and their extraordinary commitment to produce a top-quality film, things are about to change.  In just a few months, you’ll be able to take your friends and relatives to a theater near you to see Forks Over Knives.   Millions of people are about to find out about not only Drs. Campbell and Esselstyn, but they’ll also hear from Dr. John McDougall, Dr. Doug Lisle, Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. Terry Mason, Dr. Matt Lederman, Dr. Alona Pulde, Rip Esselstyn, me,  and many people who have regained their health through plant-based nutrition.  The presentation of the science is entertaining and understandable, and I’m confident that the film will motivate people to take action and change their diets.
